Many children are getting into the boxing sport.
Boxing is very safe if taught properly. It is actually much safer than football and hockey. Each student will receive top of the line leather boxing gloves. All contact will be practiced using protective shields, pads, focus mitts and heavy bags led by an instructor. There is no direct contact with one student striking another student.
Kids Intro Boxing Classes run under Recreational Departments of Billerica, Reading, Winchester, Woburn and Burlington towns. Please contact the Recreation Department in your town for further information. If you do not live in one of these towns, you still can contact the gym directly (781) 376-4269.
The next program begins on Wednesday 4/24/2019 for the towns of Burlington, Billerica and Carlisle at 3:30 pm, and Saturday morning 4/27/2019 beginning at 9:30 am.
Classes are good for kids of 1st grades and up (some times we accept kids of K grade).
During the boxing class we will focus on footwork, coordination, power, speed, focus mitts, bag work, boxing combinations and conditioning. These classes are great for self-esteem and confidence. They can also compliment other sports your kids may be involved in.
Children will learn how to slip and avoid punches. The focus on technique, form, conditioning, power, speed, timing, coordination and balance will be emphasized.
Training in boxing will make your kids stronger. As an extra to the physical benefits, they will learn techniques and punching combinations.
This sport is great for anti-bullying since children will gain confidence and self-assurance.
